Training School 2010

Impacts of Climate Change on Growth and Mortality of Forests in Europe

In close collaboration with the eight NFZ-partners, the  Institute for Forest Growth Institute for Forest Growth is organizing a Training School on "Impacts of Climate Change on Growth and Mortality of Forests in Europe". The Training School will be held at the University of Freiburg on April 19-22, 2010. The Training School is linked up with the international TRACE 2010TRACE 2010 conference that will be held on April 23-25, 2010.

The Training School offers young-stage researchers (preferably at PhD and post-doc level) in the field of climate change impact studies unique cooperation, networking and conferencing experiences. The program of the School consists of presentations by key-note speakers, interdisciplinary discussion forms and group work activities that will be reported at the TRACE conference (: presentations and proceedings). The final program will be shaped based on the specific interests of the participants.

The Training School seats a total numer of 20 participants. As the School is supported by the COST Action FP0703  ECHOES ECHOES , the COST enrollment criteria have to be fulfilled before sending your expression of interest. Admission to the Training School is selective and based on the following criteria: motivation letter, Curriculum Vitae, country distribution and gender balance. Please read all details carefully in the attached Announcement.
Grants are available that cover the registration costs, and, in addition, compensate the participant's travel- and accomodation costs partially.

An approved registration for the Training School 2010 includes:
- an icebreaker on April 18, 2010
- participation in the Training School and TRACE 2010 conference
- all Training School and conference material
- coffee breaks and lunch buffets from April 19-25, 2010
- a Training School dinner on April 21, 2010

Not included are:
- an excursion on April 25, 2010
- a conference dinner on April 24, 2010

Applications have to be send before January 31, 2010. The selected 20 participants will be notified for acceptance before February 14, 2010.
