Joint study programmes within the framework of the NFZ.forestnet network
Binational doctoral school Risk Management in Forestry
With the asssitance of the Université franco-allemande / Deutsch-Französische Hochschule, UFA / DFH, the NFZ.forestnet has launched a binational doctoral school on risk management in forestry. This doctoral school is to provide a medium for the further qualification and exchange of young researchers within the network. Supported are especially the mobility of doctoral students and their supervisors, as well as workshops to the theme of risk-management, trainings and courses to further scientific excellence, and the study of the other language. Over and above their own research activities, doctoral students will be part of a well-structured education, similar to what has been established successfully in the international promotion programme „Forestry in Transition“ and the "RP2E". Beside the abovementioned services and courses, this means co-tutoring by two professors and the presentation of regular progress updates in milestone colloquia and annual reports.
The financial assistance offered by the doctoral school with the funds of the UFA / DFH includes:
·Mobility aids for doctoral students to a maximum of € 300 per month spent at a partner institution abroad,
·Costs of workshops, trainings and language courses
·Travel costs for doctoral students and their supervisors
At the end of June 2006, a binational committee will select the first participants to the school on the basis of their written applications. A call for applications has been launched and can be downloaded » here.
Joint diploma Nancy-Freiburg
From both the side of ENGREF and ALU, the academic programmes " Ingénieurs du Génie Rural des Eaux et des Forêts Bac+6/7" and " Diplomforstwirt" have been trimmed for mutual compatibility and over the past years a joint diploma has been offered where the students often spend considerable time abroad.
The diploma is financed by the UFA/DFH French-German University and offered a limited number of students an excellent chance to get grounded in two quite different (academic) cultures. read more on the integrated double diplom Forstwissenschaften - Science Forestiéres
Joint field week "Mountain Forest Ecology in the Swiss Alps"
This field week in the Swiss Alps provides students an understanding on the topic of mountain forest ecology and management and gets them involved into research. The participants learn to define research objectives, formulate research hypotheses and to set-up and carry out a small research project.
This field week is jointly organized by the Institute for Forest Growth (IWW) of the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences Freiburg i. Br. (Germany), the ETH-Zürich (Switzerland) and the Swiss-Avalanche-Research-Institute Davos (SLF) under the auspices of NFZ.forestnet. It will take place in Davos-Switzerland from June 16th to 22nd 2007 and is offered to students from all partners of the network NFZ.forestnet.
